“I absolutely love boho or romantic styles with plaits and twists”
Rhian tells me all about how she got into bridal hair styling and some key tips for being wedding hair ready!
1. Tell Me About Yourself
My name is Rhian, I’m 28 and live in Plymouth. I’ve been in the hair industry for 12 years and in my spare time I love to dance and socialise with friends. I love my job and will always practice hairstyles whenever I have free time.
2. How Did You Get Into Hair Styling?
I grew up with my mum being a hairdresser which always gave me the desire to be one. Alongside colouring and cutting, I have always done bridal hair for my clients which I love. When we went into our first lockdown in 2020 I decided to create an Instagram page ‘Bridal Hair by Rhian’ and put my full focus into bridal hair and a lot of education to improve my skills.
3. What Type of Products and Services Do You Offer?
I am a bridal hairstylist offering hair services for everyone in the bridal party. I do sometimes work alongside a make up artist called ‘Georgia Hirons Mua’ and if booked together we offer a discounted rate. Some of the products I use include Schwarzkopf, Redken and Color Wow Hair which are all incredible!
4. What Trends Do You See in Bridal Hair for 2021-2022?
I feel like voluminous ponytails are getting more popular which I love. But I think boho, romantic and effortless styles are here to stay!
5. What’s a Typical Wedding Day Like For You?
It’s normally an early start, but I set up all my equipment and work alongside the make up artist to make the morning run as smoothly as possible. I always like to make sure I have everyone ready at least an hour before the ceremony time so there is time for photos and the last minute touches.
6. What’s Your Favourite Aspect of the Job?
I love weddings, so to be part of someone’s wedding morning is an absolute honour. The atmosphere on a wedding morning is indescribable. You get to see so many different emotions, but there’s nothing better to see the excitement on the brides face when they are about to marry the love of their life.
7. What Are Your Top Tips for Wedding Day Ready Hair?
I swear by olaplex. In the lead up to your wedding day I would recommend that brides do a good few conditioner treatments a couple months before. The night before I would recommend that brides washes their hair and blow dry it as smooth as possible without using any other heat tools.
The different styles Rhian can create are endless and the finish is beautiful. Rhian will work with brides to create the most flattering design.
