Choosing the place where you’ll tie the knot and start this next phase of your relationship is a big decision. Do you go for a stunning church, chic registry office or fabulous country house? Should you get married near your home, or make a trip out of this once-in-a-lifetime event?
Whether you’re a Brit who is torn between hosting your wedding in England or flying to more exotic shores. Or perhaps even someone who is looking at England as a destination wedding, there’s plenty of reasons to get married here. Let’s discuss three of the top reasons to have an English wedding.

The Range of Venues
England has a huge range of totally unique venues, ranging from tiny rural churches to quirky cinemas where you can take centre stage. Whether you want to invite ten guests or one hundred, there’s a venue for everyone.
The historic charm of the various castles and country houses that are spread across England are also the perfect backdrop if you want to add some timeless elegance to your celebrations. Especially if you’re travelling from abroad, these sorts of venues might not be readily available in your home country – so it’s the ideal opportunity to really go all out for your wedding.

Ability to tailor your celebration
England is full of suppliers that are either dedicated solely to weddings, or are used to catering for this type of event. As a result, it’s possible to get almost anything you want on your wedding day – live music, a painter, a cake made of cheese. With some planning and preparation, of course. This means you can create a totally bespoke day, without having the major expense of having to pay travel costs for the one vendor in the country that offers what you’re looking for.
As the UK is relatively small, even if you do have a specific supplier in mind – or want to purchase items from another UK country – they should be able to send them by courier fairly easily. If you’re travelling from abroad, using a wedding planner can help smooth the planning process, saving you from having to work across different time zones and choose vendors without speaking to them on the phone.
Transport links
Public transport can get a bad reputation, but England does actually have a huge number of train and bus links that can help when it comes to your wedding day. Your guests should be able to get themselves fairly close to your venue if not right to the door – and you can always organise a shuttle bus or taxis from the station or airport if needed.
Not only does public transport make for a more sustainable way of travelling, but it also cuts down on costs for your guests too. If they’re fairly local, they don’t necessarily have to book a hotel the night before the wedding as well as the night of. They could even travel home and sleep in their own bed if they wanted. Especially if you’re having a midweek celebration, being able to get to the venue easily also cuts down on the number of annual leave days they need to use as well.
Could an English wedding be The One?
Aside from the things we’ve already mentioned, England has some truly stunning scenery which acts as the perfect setting for starting married life. Let yourself be swept away by the rolling hills, vibrant cities or crashing waves as they add another layer of romance to this special occasion.
